We’ve already given you great skin tips, so now it’s time to talk about hair. Winter isn’t kind to your barnet and keeping it protected from the winter elements is very important. Healthy, beautiful tresses are a must, so we’ve picked out our favourite tips to keep your hair in great condition.
1. Wear a hat!
While geometric earrings and it-jackets are totally in fashion right now, a couple of chic woolly hats should always be a staple of your wardrobe. Bowler hats were big in the summer/autumn months for a cool, festival-ready style, so hats are still all the rage. Cute beanies and matching scarves are a must, especially for your stylish little one. As well as looking great, wearing a hat is the simplest way to protect your barnet.
Hat hair is a problem no one likes to face, so prepare your hair by wrapping it in a silk scarf and tucking it into your beanie or hat. The scarf is lightweight, chic and will stop any friction between your head and hat, so your hair won’t collect static and will avoid becoming a frizzy mess.
If you’re set against hats, use a heat styling product when you blowdry your hair to keep it strong. If you can, cut down on heating your hair as it can dry it out faster.
2. Wash your hair less.
What! Wash it less?! Washing your hair can strip the natural oils from your scalp and roots. Shampoos also dry your hair out over time. Cutting down from washing your hair daily to two to three times a week will keep it in better condition. It’s also best to always dry your hair properly before you leave the house. Drying your hair will prevent a cold but wet hair and chilly air are not a good mix as they can damage your hair!
3. Deep conditioning treatments are your new best friend!
We swear by deep conditioning treatments here in Sand Dollar headquarters. It’s a great idea to treat yourself to a deep conditioning treatment once a week. Your hair will be replenished and look gorgeous. Deep conditioning treatments are very easy to do yourself and will quickly have your hair looking its best.
4. Buy a dehumidifier.
What, you might be thinking, but you said humidity and heat isn’t good for your hair? This is still very true. The secret to dehumidifiers is that they counteract the dry air in your apartment or home—which keeps your hair shiny and stops it from drying out.
5. Keep split ends at bay with regular cuts.
Get your hair cut every two months. You don’t have to do anything too crazy! A quick trim of your split ends will rejuvenate your look and keep your hair healthy.
