The last year has been a big one for us here at Sand Dollar Swim HQ. The designs we’d spent so long researching and creating finally became a reality with our gorgeous UV swimwear shop going live online. We’ve sold our swimwear all over the world and it’s been modelled by some gorgeous little ones. We’ve had the opportunity to travel around the world and exhibit at some of the top events in kids’ fashion. All our hard work has paid off and we’re delighted to reveal that our swimwear will be available to buy in shops in 2015. Find us at: Brown Thomas, Dublin! House of Fraser online from March! David Jones Australia from January! Harvey Nichols Dubai from February! We’ve had a brilliant year thanks to lots of hard work and great support from amazing friends, family, and customers. We can only hope that we can build on that success and make sure Sand Dollar goes truly global in 2015. Right now, we’re taking a break for Christmas to

We’ve already given you great skin tips, so now it’s time to talk about hair. Winter isn’t kind to your barnet and keeping it protected from the winter elements is very important. Healthy, beautiful tresses are a must, so we’ve picked out our favourite tips to keep your hair in great condition. 1. Wear a hat! While geometric earrings and it-jackets are totally in fashion right now, a couple of chic woolly hats should always be a staple of your wardrobe. Bowler hats were big in the summer/autumn months for a cool, festival-ready style, so hats are still all the rage. Cute beanies and matching scarves are a must, especially for your stylish little one. As well as looking great, wearing a hat is the simplest way to protect your barnet. Hat hair is a problem no one likes to face, so prepare your hair by wrapping it in a silk scarf and tucking it into your beanie or hat. The scarf is lightweight, chic

At Sand Dollar HQ, we’re in mid-term mode, with our little ones on their mid-term break from school. We packed up and headed for beautiful Marbella in Spain. Would you believe it was 24 degrees in Marbella yesterday? The children are enjoying the sun while looking cool and protected from the sun’s harmful rays in their Sand Dollar swimwear. What amazing models they are--though we might be a little biased! We’re having a great time soaking up the sun and enjoying the late October sunshine with lots of gorgeous food and adventures on the beach. We’ve been soaking up the sun outside for lunch at Cappuccino, our favourite spot on the beach, as well as enjoying bike rides on the promenade. We’d highly recommend Momo for an amazing dinner in the old town of Marbella. It’s a romantic venue with gorgeous international food that’ll suit even the picky eaters in the family. We capped the day off with tennis in the evening as the sun

We've all felt the effects of a bad sunburn: the annoying heat, the itchy skin, the pain when moving, and the peeling skin. It isn't pleasant and sometimes it even happens when wearing sun cream. A nasty sunburn can put a serious dent into your memories of your holiday, but worse than that, a sunburn can be dangerous and potentially lead to skin cancer. Sunburn is skin reddening caused by overexposure to harmful UV radiation. Most people treat sunburn by covering up and lathering on layers of Aloe Vera and after-sun treatments, but a bad sunburn can cause lasting damage--especially in children. UVA and UVB radiation are dangerous and we're here to explain why. What is UVA and UVB? UVA = ultravoilet, or a long wave. UVB = ultraviolet B, or a short wave. Years ago, scientists thought UVB was the problem, but we've learned that UVA is the ray type that causes damage. UV radiation happens when the electromagnetic (light) wave enters

We may only have a single month of summer left, but the weather is still great and our hair is very much still at risk of becoming a humidity-induced mess. Maybe you're on holidays, you've a summer get-away coming up, or you need to look your best for a party. Either way, the sun, the chemicals you use, and the humidity can play havoc with our hair--making something of a tress mess! Here are our top tips and tricks to keep your hair looking its absolute best! 1. Choose your hair care products carefully. Homework is not just for your little one! Everyone’s hair is different and reactions to the soaring mercury vary. Do your research into the type of hair you have, how it reacts, and the products best suited to tame the frizz, detangle any knots, or keep your beach style in place and looking great without damaging your precious tresses. The combination of sun, heat, and salt water on a beach holiday
